Car crash at Alewife

A driver, who was unfortunately trying to end their life, drove into a concrete sidewall in the Alewife garage, sending the 10,000 pound chunk of concrete hurling towards the mezzanine.  Luckily, the metal framing prevented the beam from touching the ground.

Red Line CRRC cars pulled

During a routine inspection of the 1400 series orange line trains, an engineer discovered a failure in a power cable which may have caused additional arcing, potentially damaging the trains axles.  This left a limited fleet of cars available to service the orange line, leading to greater headways.

Overhead wire issues #6431

Wire issues near the Kenmore station forced riders to take shuttle buses along the C and D branches.  This is quite the popular spot for incidents, having many, many wire issues throughout the last year.

These cars are a small order designed to maintain peak headways with the GLX opening.  They will likely be moved to the MHSL once the #10 series arrives.

Blue line pantograph issues

A disabled train at the Suffolk Downs station forced passengers to use shuttle buses.  This was caused by a broken pantograph on the 3rd car of the train.  The broken pantograph even took a piece off the pedestrian bridge!
